The poem "The American Spirit" is a gift to all Americans. Written by Houston

A True American's Dream
"My dream is that one day 'The American Spirit' will be on view across America in
our schools, libraries, businesses, government buildings and military bases so
that all Americans, natives and transplants alike, will be inspired and encouraged
by its words," says author Harry Turner. "I receive no compensation for the poem.
The greatest reward will be knowing that every time they read the poem or hear it
recited, freedom-loving people will be motivated to stand strong against any
challenge and strive to accomplish something beyond themselves. That is the
message of 'The American Spirit' for every generation."
